  From the 9th floor of the Westin. Looking west along the Chicago River.  Moments of shorter buildings reveal the giant ones throughout the city.  I was intrigued by the anti-modern brick Bloomingdales amidst the other steel and glass structures. Oh yes, I ate at the Weber Grill Restaurant my first night in Chicago. Not bad, but in no hurry to return.  Here's a shot of the kind of old city architecture I find so exotic. We don't have this in Southern California.  Lileks would love this building (he probably has this shot himself). That whole painted-brick look just screams ye olden days.  Very much enjoy the color contrasts of the bricks in this one. This just to the right of the previous shot.  The towering monolith that is the YMCA building.  It's right near this amazing gothic church.  A different gothic church's inner courtyard. Spooky when it's winter and there's a black-and-white filter in iPhoto...  Peering through the branches at the fountain.  Something interesting about the old Drake hotel set before the towering Hancock Building.  Here's the park in front of the Drake and its neighbors.  Just a quick jaunt under Lakeshore Dr. to the beach of Lake Michigan.
